CURRICULUM

Curriculum followed is as per NEP 2020

At GPS Learning is active, joyous, rigorous and ingenious engagement of students. Our pedagogy is in coherence with fundamental aspects of NEP 2020. Emphasizing upon competency based education.

Foundational programme

  •  Toddlers
  •  M1 – Pre KG 
  •  M2 – Junior KG 
  •  M3 – Senior KG 

Our Kindergarten curriculum is based on age specific learning and has been designed , keeping in view of the educational trends and needs of children. The curriculum is child centric focusing on play/ activity based learning. 

  •  Communication and Language development 
  •  Numbers and Environmental studies. 
  •  Physical development –personal, social and emotional. 
  •  Learner centric, digital classrooms, facilitating gross and fine motor skills

 

  • CBSE syllabus is followed. Students learn the following;

                – scholastic subjects: English, Tamil, Hindi, Mathematics, EVS, General Knowledge and Computer Skills. 

 

  • Achieving foundational literacy and numeracy

 

  • Co- Scholastic : Art Music, Dance , Karate, Yoga, Sports etc. Emphasis is given on Language development, Communication Skills, Self-Expressions and activity based learning.

 

 

PREPARATORY STAGE:

  • CBSE Syllabus is followed. Students learn the following 

Scholastic Subjects: English, Tamil, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Computer Skills. 

  • Co-scholastic: Art, music Dance, Yoga, Karate, Sports etc. Emphasis is given on communication skills, discovery and activity based and interactive classroom learning. 

 

 

  • Scholastic subjects: English, (Tamil, Hindi, French as second and third languages) Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Computer Skills. 

 

  • Co- Scholastic: Art, Music, Dance, Karate, Yoga, Sports etc. 

 

  • Emphasis is given on Language development, Communication Skills, Self-Expressions and experiential learning.

 

 

  • Students are prepared for the CBSE board examination and study the following subjects: English, Tami/ Hindi / French as second language, Mathematics ,Science and Social Science and Information Technology. 

 

  • Co scholastic subjects include Art, Yoga, Sports,Dance and Music.

 

 

Students study CBSE syllabi and are prepared for SSCE. At GPS, we offer  Science and Management stream.

ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION

Assessments and evaluation are used to identify individual students’ strengths and weaknesses so that educator can provide specialized academic support and enrichment programme accordingly. We adapt different forms of assessments such as formal and informal. Formative and Summative, Continuous and Comprehensive is designed and conducted to assist the learning process by providing feedback and remediation to improve their future performances. 

 

At KG level, assessment and evaluation are an ongoing part of everyday activity. Students are assessed through worksheets and day today activities. Student portfolios are maintained which contains the work samples and worksheets of every day activity.

 

Assessments are based on the student’s performance during the entire year and due weightage is given to all the Periodic Test / Term End Examination, Subject Enrichment Activity, Notebook Upkeep, HW, Assignments and Projects. Students will be evaluated on a 5-point scale grading system. There are three formal assessments conducted twice during each term. Term I [PT1, PT2 and Term 1 End Exam] & Term II [PT3, PT4 and Term 2 End Exam]

 

Assessments are based on the student’s performance during the entire year and due weightage is given to all the Periodic Test / Term End Examination, Subject Enrichment Activity, Notebook Upkeep, HW, Assignments and Projects, portfolio, multiple assessment and timely submission. Students of Grade 6 to 8 are evaluated on a 8-point scale & Grade 9 evaluated on a 9-point scale grading system. There are three formal assessments conducted twice during each term. Term I [PT1, PT2 and Term 1 End Exam] & Term II [PT3, PT4 and Term 2 End Exam]

 

Assessments are based on the student’s performance during the entire year and the due weightage is given to PT, SEA, Portfolio, Practical, Lab Activity Multiple Assessment as Internals & Board Examination, as per the norms and guidelines issued by the CBSE board. 

 

Assessments are based on students performance during the entire year and due weightage is given to all the test and examination PT1(10%), PT2(10%), T1(30%), PT3(10%), PT4(10%) & T2(30%). The pass marks in each subject will be 50%. In case of subject involving practicals, student must obtain 33% in theory and 33 % practical separately.
